Before his death, Adiele Echendu was a family man who was married with two kids and played professional football in Germany.On Saturday the 18th of June, he passed away in his sleep. The former sharks of Port-Harcourt midfielder was holidaying in Nigeria following the end of the football season in his Germany base.

Agnes Adiele has raised suspicion about her husband's death

Despite the fact that an autopsy has not being carried out yet, Adiele Echendu, his wife has raised concerns about the manner in which the father of two passed away.

Speaking to the press in Germany Adiele advisor, Rainer Derber said: “He travelled to Nigeria with a lot of cash to do housework and investment, this money is now gone. One can now say there is a huge possibility he was murdered by poisoning. Already two of his brothers have been killed in Nigeria.”

Adiele’s widow has also voiced her suspicion about the death of the Nigerian footballer, speaking from their home in Dormagen near Dusseldorf, Germany
“My thoughts are constantly with him. Today I told our two Kids about his death, but they are 6 and 8 years, probably still too young to really understand the whole thing. How much suffering and tragedy can this family withstand?”
Agnes said that “Eche” suspected that his trip to Nigeria might be dangerous.

Continuing in a tearful and shaky voice Agnes said: “He made an appointment to see his lawyer about his will. This lawyer has found Eche ‘and his friend and his “wife” the next morning. Who knows if they had been lured to some place where no help could be found?

He was just a wonderful person to me and my children. Now he’s gone, I am so scared.
According his friend and former team-mate Marco Laping (33) , his wish was that he should be buried in Saarbrücken his second home.

By the looks of things, it seems Adiele Echendu has another wife in Nigeria. Reports in Nigerian newspapers are saying that Adiele’s wife is also said to have taken ill at about the same time her husband and that she is presently in a coma and is also at the same hospital where her husband’s corpse is deposited. It is obvious that the wife in Germany is not the lady in question here. Whatever the case, Nigeria has lost another professional sport man. Two months ago, the nation lost Olufemi Adebayo when he died in car accident in Greece. He was on his way to the airport to catch a light to Nigeria where he was going to finalise plans for his wedding.
