ACN/CPCL: Buhari frustrated alliance talks – ACN – Tribune

For uncompromising posture of former head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari, frustrated the alliance talks between his party, Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the latter claimed on Wednesday.

Shedding light on the talks, which it stated were meant to checkmate the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in next April’s elections, the ACN accused the CPC presidential standard-bearer of rigidity throughout the talks.

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary (ACN), Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said this was in spite of the readiness of the ACN to make enormous sacrifices, which would have included its candidate, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, jettisoning his ambition.

The party said the clarification became necessary, because PDP was trying to make an issue of the botched alliance instead of putting its own house in order.
